Model History

The new Alpine A110 was first seen as the Alpine Vision Concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016 with the production car being introduced at the same show in 2017. This exciting lightweight sports car signified the return of the much lauded Alpine brand, which had been dormant since 1995.

Taking a leaf out of Colin Chapman’s book, Alpine focused, no, obsessed with making it light. They used the thinnest, lightest aluminium they could, the glass is as thin as a car manufacturer is legally allowed to go (still ridiculously safe, don’t worry!). They even developed new wiper blades with Bosch that had tiny perforations in the rubber itself, making it so efficient they could use a tiny washer fluid bottle, just to save weight!

The result was an astonishing kerb weight of 1,100kg, remember an equivalent Porsche Cayman wades in at nearly a third of a tonne more. 252bhp is delivered from the well proven and excellent 1.8 Litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine used in the Megane RS, mounted amidships and driving the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

This a car that frankly, in my opinion, offers one of the purest and eye opening driving experiences in a modern sports car. You realise that everything is better because it is so light. The handling is sweet and agile, the ride is unbelievable because it isn’t oversprung or overdamped to disguise weight, it’s fast and on top of all that, it’s even frugal.

Since the launch of the A110, Alpine has become an F1 team and the brand has a very exciting, albeit electric, future ahead of it.

Motor Car Offered

The Alpine A110 for sale with Wrightson Automotive is a very desirable Première Edition. In late 2016, when the order book for the A110 opened it was the Première Edition that was offered. These would represent the first 1,955 (Alpine was originally founded in 1955) and would be individually numbered. The buzz was such around these cars that all 1,955 Première Editions sold out within 5 days.

The Première Edition models came in a choice of three colours and featured bespoke black quilted sports seats by Sabelt, unique matt black alloys developed with Otto Fuchs (of iconic 911 wheel fame), a sports exhaust, Brembo sports brakes, Focal audio system and an individually numbered plaque.

This particular example is finished in Alpine Blue and is car number 246 of 1,955. First registered in August 2018, it was certainly one of the first UK delivered examples (140 in total). The first owner kept the car until 2023 when I sold the car to the current owner. A change of circumstances calls for a more practical car, hence why the car is for sale.

With two owners from new and currently showing just 16,100 miles, this exceptional Alpine A110 has a perfect service record with the car being service every year, irrespective of mileage, as detailed below:

19/08/2019 @ 5,619 miles – Oil and oil filter

11/09/2020 @ 9,852 miles – Oil and oil filter

01/09/2021 @ 11,356 miles – Oil, oil filter, cabin filter and brake fluid change

31/08/2022 @ 13,008 miles – Oil, oil Filter, air filter and new battery

16/08/2023 @ 14,409 miles – Oil and filter

13/09/2024 @ 16,087 miles – Oil, oil filter, air filter, auxillary drive belt and tensioner

The car is fitted with a lovely set of LIFE110 shift paddles, which are longer than the original items and an absolute joy to use in comparison to the rather awkward, stumpy factory paddles.

The car is accompanied by all its handbooks, spare key and accessories including an Alpine car cover, toolkit, safety kit, tyre repair/inflator kit and the original shift paddles. There is also wonderful presentation book about the design and development of the car as well as a glorious history of Alpine as a brand and their legendary success in motorsport.
